PEDIGREE ANALYSIS (FAMILY TREE)
It is the systemic listing of the parents and grand parents of an individual.
It is also called family tree.
It contains different types of symbols like circles,square and diamond.
In family members,
Mating is represented by square and circles which is connected by horizontal line.
Parents and their children are presented by connecting the children with the mating line of parents.
Identical twins are indicated by the children connected by an inverted 'V' line and horizontal line.
Non-Identical twins are indicated by the children connected by an inverted 'V' line.
Affected males are represented by closed squares.
Affected females are represented by closed circles.
Heterozygous male are represented by half-closed squares.
Heterozygous females are represented by half-closed circles.
Carrier of sex linked recessive is represented by a circles with dot inside.
Unknown phenotype can be represented by a question mark placed in the symbol.
Death of an individual is represented by crossing the square(for male) or crossing the circle(for female).
Each generation will listed in separate row.
